Plein

The Plein is the centre for events and demonstrations. You will see important buildings and the well-known statue of William of Orange.

Right in the centre of The Hague you will find this quadrangular Plein. In 1632, the square was built and had to resemble the Place Royale in Paris. The square is regularly used for demonstrations and political protest demonstrations due to its proximity to the Binnenhof and the meeting places of government and parliament. In the middle of the square is a statue of Wil van Oranje by Louis Royer. Furthermore, around the square you can see special buildings such as the Second Chamber of the States General, the Haagsche Kastet and Sociëteit de Witte. In addition, you will find some restaurants where it is pleasant to stay.
