In the centre of Nijmegen is the oldest shopping street in the Netherlands, namely the Lange Hezelstraat. In the street there are several 15th, 16th and 17th century buildings. Many facades are of a later date, but the streetscape of Nijmegen is unique because many buildings have been preserved during the bombardment in the city. As a result, there are still pre-war architectural styles to be seen. The most striking building is Lange Hezelstraat 41A designed by Nijmegen architect Derk Semmelink. Furthermore you will find all kinds of cozy eateries and nice shops.
