Hofje Onder den Toren
This court is very appropriate to find at the foot of the abbey tower Lange Jan and was created during the Reconstruction of Middelburg.
The charming Hofje Onder den Toren is built in the style of the Delft School. It was created in the context of the Reconstruction of Middelburg, after the destruction of the bombing of 17 May 1940. As the name suggests, the court can be found at the foot of the abbey tower Lange Jan. From this tower you have a good view of the rectangular courtyard with a row of houses on two sides. A relief of Nel Klaassen can be seen in the façade wall on the Nieuwe Kerkgang.
